“Vincentians are witness to God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice”.
Some, not all, of our volunteers choose to answer the call to become Vincentians (followers of St. Vincent de Paul.) In developing one-on-one relationships with those we serve, Vincentians strive to incorporate a spiritual element in their work. Just as the Book of James states a truth: “faith without works is dead” (James 2:17) its converse is also true: works without faith are dead. Vincentians seek to exercise their faith and “soften” their hearts by serving those in need. Vincentians are the ones called to make home visits and establish a “helping relationship” with those they serve before determining aid in the form of food, rent, utilities, household goods or referral services.
This website provides ongoing information for Vincentians and their Waukesha County parish teams (called conferences). Contact your local Catholic parish to learn more about volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul or perhaps becoming a Vincentian.
And remember — you don’t have to become a Vincentian to volunteer your time or to receive help ! Call or e-mail us to learn more.
