You might be surprised at the variety of outreach programs that St. Vincent de Paul supports in Waukesha County. And for every program that helps a person in need, there are also opportunities to volunteer. We would like to expand our ministry offerings in the future, as your donations allow.

Home Visits-Conference Core Ministry
Waukesha County Thrift Stores
St. Vincent de Paul’s Waukesha County thrift stores support our neighbors in need and community, in many ways:
As part of a person-to-person home visit, we provide vouchers to shop at the stores for those in need of clothing and household goods, at no charge.
Smart shoppers and shoppers with limited budgets visit our stores to purchase the donated household goods and clothing at great values.
Profits generated from store sales are used to fund our ministry outreach in Waukesha County.
The stores provide numerous volunteer and employment opportunities and a place to donate gently used items.
St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Waukesha County partners with the Hope Center (formerly Cooperating Congregations of Waukesha County) with financial support and staffing to serve a nutritious hot meal each Monday evening to the homeless, indigent, and needy in the City of Waukesha.
The meal is served at the Hope Center site, located at 502 N. East Avenue, Waukesha, to approximately 80-100 guests.
St. Vincent de Paul volunteers begin dinner with prayer at 5:30 p.m.
Summer Lunch Program
The Summer Lunch Program provides a bag lunch and beverage to school age children and their parents Monday – Friday at Saratoga Park, located on the grounds of the Saratoga Campus – Waukesha Stem Academy during the entire school summer break.
St Vincent de Paul partners with the City of Waukesha Park, Recreation and Forestry Department (WP-RFD) for the summer lunch program. Our goal is to help parents meet the needs of their children by providing a nutritious meal and a structure to long summer days for many latch-key children who must tend to themselves while their parents are at work.
The St. Vincent de Paul Back-to-School Program is a joint venture between Waukesha, Washington, and Milwaukee St. Vincent de Paul Councils. The Program provides school supplies to families in need. Each child is offered a back pack or book bag, school supplies (grade appropriate K – 12 valued at $16.00) and a $15.00 Payless shoe gift card.
Conferences refer families to the Christmas Clearing Council or to their Parish Christmas program for presents and sometimes provide presents directly through their home visit ministry. In extraordinary circumstances, the District Council also provides gift certificates for Christmas presents directly to families.
Project Angel Tree, a Christmas gift program for Waukesha County inmate families, is handled by the St. Dismas Conference of St. Vincent de Paul with assistance from other conferences.
Waukesha Food Pantry Delivery Program
St. Vincent de Paul assists the Waukesha Food Pantry and St. William Church by delivering food once a month to approximately 45 shut-ins. The Waukesha Food Pantry qualifies recipients, St. William’s Church packages the food, and St. Vincent de Paul provides delivery services.
Waukesha County Food Pantries
St. Vincent de Paul conferences in Waukesha County maintain and operate many established food pantries. The pantries provide food on a weekly basis and are available for residents in the local communities.
In addition, several conferences without established food pantries collect and provide food to other conferences’ food panties or to the Waukesha Food Pantry.
Conference twinning includes financial aid and home visit assistance. The District Council Needy Family Fund is available for financial assistance to St. Vincent de Paul Conferences that cannot meet the needs of the poor. The Needy Family Fund is available to insure St. Vincent de Paul services are provided to the needy in all Waukesha County communities.
Funds for the Needy Family Fund are provided by St. Vincent de Paul conferences (with surpluses), external donors and our thrift stores.
Waukesha Conferences at Catholic parishes in communities of great need and high demand for person-to-person home visits may require assistance from Vincentians at other conferences (to make home visits).
St. Vincent de Paul conferences expand their outreach by offering support (through home visits) to people as they transition to self-sufficient independence from a structured environment of a Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facility or homeless shelter in the City of Waukesha.
Current partnerships include: Century House, Hebron House Shelter, House of Hope, and Genesis House.
District Council Domestic & Foreign Twinning
The St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Waukesha County offers financial aid to St. Vincent de Paul St Andrew’s Particular Council in Kingston, Jamaica. This aid assists their conferences purchase of food items and medical supplies in a devastatingly poor area.
Parish conferences and the District Council also provide financial aid to other Council and non-Council St. Vincent de Paul organizations in both the United States and elsewhere in the world.
Repairers of the Breach
St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Waukesha County provides, on a weekly basis, Thrift Store donations of blankets, sleeping bags and warm winter outerwear to Repairers of the Breach, a daytime shelter and resource center for the homeless located at 1335 West Vliet Street in Milwaukee.
